I listen to classical music almost exclusively, mainly orchestral and chamber music from classical period through today (no atonal however!). I want acoustic instruments to sound natural and alive through my stereo system. My music system is in a dedicated music-only listening room.

My Marantz SA11-S2 was purchased Dec, 2007. It has been left on virtually since I put it in my system. It gets nearly daily use. It's never failed to plan an SACD. There have been a few RBCD's that have failed to play but those discs did not play on other players either. Love this player - hope it keeps going. ... more

I have a great fondness for the Lubotsky/Britten recording on London/Decca. Coupling is the Britten piano concerto with Richter. Excellent analog-original sonics on that RBCD. The under-rated Mordkovitch on Chandos is also quite good IMO. ... more

Thanks James! I have a Marantz SA-11S2 that is almost 8 years old. I leave it on 24/7 and have never had an issue with the transport/laser. All still original. Since you know the sound of the Marantz, I have confidence that I'd also like the Yamaha. ... more

james_joyce - please tell me about your Yamaha SACD player. What did it replace, how do hi-rez downloads sound on it, etc. I do not have the capability of playing hi-rez d/l's at this point, but that seems like a relatively painless way to achieve it (if the player does well with SACD's and RBCD's that is).
