If you don't already own the superb (now out of print and seriously expensive) SACD of Sea Change, this Blu-ray is a total no-brainer, it sounds equally as terrific in surround as the SACD. The Elliot Scheiner 5.1 mix is extraordinary. I have not played the Stereo on this disc yet I am afraid as I bought it for the Surround but FWIW the Stereo is at a very cool 192/24 sampling rate. I cannot recommend it highly enough from a 5.1 point of view. Essential for Surround listeners imho.

I bought this based upon the raves of the original SACD. I was glad when the more reasonable priced Blu-ray Pure Audio version appeared. Yes, incredible sonics that are apparently as good as if not better than the SACD. Not being too familiar with Beck I wasn't quite sure what to expect from the music itself. This is a quirky album, a collection of morose, and somewhat depressing music. Sometimes I'll listen to it and wondering why I am torturing myself with it, and other times I feel the exact opposite. So the bottom line is, it is a moody piece that elevates itself with an incredible multichannel experience. I too haven't listened to the stereo version because my attitude is why bother if I can experience the 5.1 sound. It is one of those rare albums that you may not like, but you love listening to.

This title has been a benchmark for audiophiles for quite a while in surround circles. The out of print surround is extremely expensive but this blu ray has brought the title back in the mainstream for everybody to purchase. It's superb surround sound is the main attraction. I must admit that I had to acquire a taste for the content, but after a few plays I liked it more and more. I didn't listen to the stereo content so I can't render an evaluation on it.
