I'm now listening on the SHM-SACD of the Best of Queen. I must admit, the sound is perfect, the voice are very clear an the dynamic range of this SACD is much more better than the normal CD. The instruments sound perfectly and I hear more details than on the cd, for examole. the guitars on track 8, the same for the piano on this track too. The sound ist very clear and precise. For me, it doesn't matter that this CD is only sStereo. I listen only on a stereo equipment on my B&W 801. It's marvelous.
So I think this purchase was a a good one, despite the huge amounts of money. In my opinion this SACD is highly recommendable.
Greetings from Austria

There is a vast improvement between the SACD version of Queen Greatest Hits I and the sound of the remastered CD version of the same title. There are differences in the quality among the tracks but at the end this is pure SACD sound: bold sound, excellent dynamics, good instrument separation, a lot of details you do not notice in the regular CD. "Another one bites the dust" is a remarkable track to show your friends the capabilities of SACD vs a regular CD. Bob Ludwig did an excellent job. Buy it and enjoy it

This SACD release is something of a mixed bag of sonic quality. It's much better than the CD versions I have heard as far as listening experience is concerned simply because it sounds so much larger than life - which I think would be just how Freddie Mercury would want it to be.

The downside though is that this disc is very loud and in your face - at times it sounds as though the disc is on the limit and could even be clipping.

Is this the best way to listen to Queen ? Perhaps it is, I'm still undecided though and feel that a better recording of Queens Greatest will be available one day.

This disc has a clarity about it that simply doesn't exist on previous cd releases and for that reason I will recommend it. However, the loudness issue for me is a real issue and for many just might be a deal breaker.

Think of the original Brothers in Arms SACD and this is marginally better with respect to loudness and compression.
