Rolling Stones: Their Satanic Majesties Request SHM SACD 2014 Japanese Re Release Stereo

Being an average but dedicated Stones fan my whole life, this disc is the one I played most often as a kid, locked in my room and trying to escape the realities of being 12 years old. The original gate fold album with 3D front, inner maze, and artwork was perfect for listening and looking. I have a fondness for this recording and have inner peace and happiness with this SHM SACD. I have owned the original LP, Cassette, and CD. I ordered 21 SHM SACD's re releases and this disc my most anticipated.

Released in 1967, there 8th studio album, and some say there answer to Sgt Peppers and if I had to choose between the two I prefer this Stones recording because I have a better intimate relationship. My mood at that time being darker than the lighter Sgt. Pepper.

There is as always additional musicians and in this recording Lennon and McCartney actually did backing vocals on opening track.

Performance: I think you get it, I very much love it. It certainly has lots of additions and overdubs in the recorded performance that you only find in this disc out of the vast Stones catalog.

Stereo Sonics: This SHM SACD is stellar. I might say, that I am able to hear things that I didn't hear before, but I think that I am hearing the same, just so much cleaner through this detailed ABKCO master DSD transfer. I couldn't be happier. Stereo is large front stage there are so many nuances to this recording that you have to put yourself in a centered, quiet space and if you happen to like this type of music you will appreciate what a great re release this is.

Packaging: Plastic jewel case with square corners. Mini paper original (sort of) gate fold liner and paper mini Japanese liner notes with tons of Japanese writing including lyrics in English. The original 2011 SHM SACD release I hope did a better job than this version. My only disappointment was the packaging. The inside gate fold, which is wrong, has the right side explaining ABKCO's transfer. The right side inside jewel case combined with the rear of mini booklet makes for the original inside album, very disappointing. Also front cover clouds and sky are light blue, nothing that I have ever seen is light blue, except this front cover. Disc is Japanese green disc.

Note to SACD.net. The album photo that is shown for this disc, dark blue, is wrong. The other album photo for the hybrid SACD would be correct for this disc.

I am so happy that I now have this. It is a joyful time when music creates feelings from the past whether they be dark or happy.

Record is simply amazing there, and a lively performance. No questions asked. When you consider that this is the 60s just exclamation of surprise.
