Performance:
I first came across this SACD on Hong Kong ebay, and as far as I know, it's still only available on HK ebay. The surprising thing about this SACD is that it was licensed by a Taiwanese record company for release on SACD. Anyway, if you know Norah Jones from her 2 solo albums, then get ready for a change of pace. This particular title was recorded right before NJ hit it big and she served as vocalist on songs by guitarist Peter Malick. The songs are bluesy rock, somewhat similar to what Bonnie Raitt would do, and NJ is fully up to the task of singing these songs. A hint of simmering sensuality can be heard throughout the disc on NJ's vocals. Peter Malick's guitar playing reminds me of Mark Knopfler's and his songs are filled with hooks. The stereo SACD layer makes a marked improvement over the regular CD layer, which sounded like everything was mashed together. There are only 7 tracks on this SACD and one of them was a "radio edit" of the title track. Given its price and its short running time (barely over 30 minutes), this is an expensive SACD on a "per minute" basis. However, if you do get it, you will get an album that you just keep on repeating because it is just THAT good.

Highly recommended!!

Performance:   Sonics:
The sound on the SACD layer is very silky and three-dimensional. Norah Jones sings a more bluesy selection of material than I was expecting.

As for the performance, Norah's vocals are very sensuous with a slight feeling of rawness. Her voice matches well with the instrumentation. The music which accompanies her vocals is pitch-perfect.

Sonically, her voice is centered well and the other instruments surround her nicely. There was no discernible hiss and each of the instruments was easy to locate. A wonderful recording that fills the room with the performance, and also happens to be silky-smooth.

The only negative aspect of this recording is its running time, which is only a little over 30 minutes.
