Anybody planning to review this disc soon? The previous disc in this series from them was very disappointing for me, the playing seemingly quite ragged in places; if they have not improved, Schumann fan or no this is one we will miss especially with Jaarvi doing them well on RCA (at a price!)

No. I bought the first disc and won't be buying the second. A real snore, and weird, puzzling, ineffectual balances among different sections of the orchestra. For example, the beautiful floating horn melody in the slow movement of Symphony 2 is barely audible, but you can sure hear the strings sawing away at the same note again and again: 1-2-3-4, 1-2-3-4. What was Zacharias smoking? Great 2+2+2 sound, though!

-- Sony has recently announced a European version of the RCA Red Seal Schumann 2/Overtures Hybrid SACD at half price in yen terms 1395 for release 11/12/2012, EAN 8876542979-2
They did the same for the Sym 1 and 3 as EAN 8869796431-2 although price was higher at 1743 yen.
There is also a set of Jaarvi/Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen Schumann Symphonies nearly out on blu ray from C-Major "Schumann at Pier 2".

No hints or clues at this point about any more Schumann.
Sony Music Japan's next release is the second two disc volume of Yu Kosuge's Beethoven Piano Sonatas (first set Beethoven: Klaviersonaten I "Aufbruch" - Yu Kosuge) SICC-10176 on 27/02/2013. Nothing beyond that that I know of.

Hi,
in the booklet it's written, that the Schumann project takes 3 years for all 4 symphonies. So symphony nr. 4 will be released.
