Help....
Just purchased the Philips unit and did hook up via optical to my Sony...I get all audio for DVD (multi channel et al) as well as PCM on Hybrid SACD. Multi SACDS will not produce any audio!!!...Sound mode set to SACD 6 Channel...nothing! Philips has been totally useless for technical help...Any ideas? Bad unit or what?
Thanks

I don't think sacd signal can leave your player via optical...try a different out...Good luck!

Cheers,

Thanks Dimitri,
I belive that you are correct. In reviewing the hook-up details there is a small note which states that SACD audio will no be heard with optical unit connected...it must be done with RCA out to RCA in on the receiver.

I have the Philips 963SA SACD and you'll need 6 RCA cables that will connect from your Philips player to your A/V receiver Ext. In or whatever 6ch Input you may have.

You didn't mention what receiver in the post.....

Anyway, your player doesn't pass a DSD digital signal.

And EVEN if it did, your receiver would not be able to decode it. Only a handful of flagship (like 2000-5000 dollar) receivers have the new digital iLink.

Don't forget, DSD, the codec that really is SACD isn't related to PCM, DD, DTS or anything else for that matter.

If you have analog 5.1 ins on your receiver, hook that baby up!
