Anyways. Don't assume that The Wall is dead or that the world begins and ends with WYWH-SACD exactly as things are right now... SACD (still) is not dead.

You have given me renewed hope, and for now, that is enough :-)

keep in mind that back then you could actually go into most record shops and find an SACD copy of DSOTM to purchase. Now its hard to find a CD shop, let alone one that stocks SACDs. So I don't expect that WYWH will sell anywhere near as many copies as DSOTM did. If it did, that would be a major impetus to more SACD relases, so here's hoping...

What I would really like to know is why emi/ Capitol have decided not to follow the policy as they did for dsotm and release a single inventory hybrid 5.1 sacd that we can buy at a store or order online at a comparable cost to a regular cd. They did it before, what has changed. Can anyone at emi give an answer. They remain very quiet from what I can see.

Quite simply, besides reissuing companies MoFi and Analogue Productions in the US, ALL major US Record Companies staunchly refuse to release SACD product.

What you said is absolutely true..........Make an exception and do release WYWH in the same fashion as DSOTM was reissued.

But I will guarantee you that Analogue Productions mch SACD of WYWH will probably be definitive as almost ALL of their SACDs are state of the art.

And based on how it sells, perhaps Capitol/EMI will eventually release the entire PF as mch SACDs....it will just take some time.

Perhaps one reason the SACD is not being heavily promoted is due to the fact acoustic sounds is the only retailer taking pre-orders for the disc. As a former attorney who did some work in the industry, it also wouldn't surprise me if AS signed an exclusivity agreement that limited their ability to promote the exclusivity so not to compete with the more costly and more profitable Immersion set. I also find it interesting that EMI chose to put an SACD and not a Blu-ray or Blu-ray Audio against the Immersion set.

The WYWH SACD is a product from Acoustic Sounds. They licensed the music from EMI, prepared, manufacture and distribute the SACD. So it's normal that EMI does not promote the SACD (it was just briefly mentioned in the EMI press release). EMI's products are the WYWH CD and LP reissues and CD/DVD/Blu-ray box sets.

BTW, the Immersion box set will include the stereo and multichannel mixes in 24/96 PCM on Blu-ray, so the SACD offering is just an exclusive format, but does not have exclusive content.

"DISC 5 - BLURAY: AUDIO: Wish You Were Here, James Guthrie 2009 5.1 Surround Mix (previously unreleased) high resolution audio at 96 kHz/24-bit / Wish You Were Here, Original stereo mix (1975) mastered in high resolution audio at 96 kHz/24-bit /"

Acoustic Sounds is listing availability date at 11/7. Perhaps it is time for Zeus to add WYWH to the database!

It's also time for Analogue Productions to make the Hybrid SACD available on Amazon.

I mean, if AP wants to compete successfully with EMI's 5.1 24/96 edition of WYWH offering better quality (DSD) and much cheaper SACD 5.1 version the company has to use the same channels for distribution as EMI.

Delaying the premiere of the SACD on Amazon.com and CDuniverse would be utter stupidity IMHO.

Just my thoughts...

Still not sure I understand why the disc won't have a 2-ch SACD mix too. Surely excluding a not insignificant proportion of the market.
