I forgot that Alice In Chains is what this thread as about to begin with. I got dazzled by all the early 80's 12 inch mixes. I used to have the Carnival Japanese remixes of Duran Duran on import cd. From Japan

I dont understand the sound on this disc. I know no one likes the sound except for rammie. I played it in the past and liked the sound. but I played it on a denon 5910 digital link. It was boomy sounding. I stopped using the onkyo sacd changer but I tried it again. it sounded way better than the denon.
why the Denons $3500 and onkyo is $200. there hooked up different. the onkyo is all analog fed to 2 different receivers.

theres 4 fronts & 4 rear analog outputs. Ive been wanting to playback the analog outputs on the denon there active all the time but there not hooked up. really strange that the onkyo sounds way better. this disc has a herbie black hole & acrilic aluminator. I know now why it sounds better this way its descrete on the denon amp but not the other. I was not going to talk about this disc playing it in the denon. I need to hook up the denon like the onkyo.

but I cant I have to buy another receiver or disconnect a player.to me the discs tweaks dont do much to the sound. but the dual mch out makes a better sound

Hi there, just wanted to give an update.
My original audio configuration: was an Onkyo universal player (DV-SP502) and a Yamaha A/V receiver (RX-V659) (connected via analogue outputs) and B&W bookshelf speakers. Some months ago I replaced the onkyo and bought an Oppo BDP-95. All by itself was a great and pleasantly improvement in all aspects of sound. But in november I upgraded my A/V receiver to an Onkyo TX-NR809. This receiver supports DSD over HDMI so I decided to go that way....WOW!!! Now I can hear every little nuance! I didn't imagine how much both, the receiver and conection, would improve the whole thing!

To be honest I bought the AIC SACD because of one song: I Stay Away, and the first time I listened it in this format I was desappointed with the strings backgrounding the chorus, they were lost somewhere in the rear channels. DSD has given life to them!!! Every instrument and detail has turned in to something present. Guitars, voices, etc.

In fact, I have completely rediscovered all my collection. I have to say that Duran Duran's SACD is included here. Not a 3 star yet but a strong 2.

No doubt that the better the audio set, the better the audio experience!
