The only Pink Floyd I have ever heard is Dark Side of the Moon, total CRAP hippie noise , It even starts off by a someone saying I am fcuking mad.

Why do people always have to post something negative so quickly! To me all it does it lower my respect for their valid (?) posts.

IMO, Analogue Productions 5.1 of WYWH should be pretty spectacular. I really hope that the WALL and Animals also gets the AP treatment in 5.1, as well.

Things ARE happening!

Told ya so ? ;)

I'm new 'round these parts, but following the other thread regarding new SACD releases, I never doubted you. :)

It seems you like crap noise / music ? , I don,t.nothing negative about not wanting to listen to absolute rubbish, even if it does have large sales.

The long-awaited 5.1 version of 'Wish You Were Here,' mixed by James Guthrie, will also be released in parallel via independent label Acoustic Sounds.

A big win for Acoustic Sounds as well.

I would have thought that "absolute rubbish" might be able to have large short-term sales because of canny marketing and interest from fashion faddists, but would struggle to stay continuously on catalogue with ongoing large-scale sales for nearly forty years simultaneously undergoing specialist reissues in several different audiophile formats over those decades.

Dropping into a thread about a specific band to proclaim one's dislike for them seems a bit of a pointless exercise IMO. I, for instance, find little of merit in the works of The Temple City Kazoo Orchestra, but I am happy to let them issue their recordings to the general indifference of the population at large without any comment from me as to the artistic merit of their endeavours.

Meanwhile...I've got my fingers crossed hoping EMI release a 'Meddle' 'Immersion' box including the quadraphonic version of 'Echoes':-)

The way I look at things is that any new disc, or reissue, if made available on SACD is good news as it helps to reinforce SACD as a credible medium and is an indication that it has not been abandoned altogether.

There are many titles on SACD that I would never buy, (including many Classical ones as well, even though I am a lover of classical music I much prefer baroque and early music to the romantics) but am glad they exist as they add weight to the market and reinforce the interest that many have in listening to music in this way. For me personally SACD is about high quality but primarily I enjoy it because of the multichannel capability it offers.

The Pink Floyd issue is in my view exciting as it is significant and hopefully paves the way for more SACD releases in the future for those who enjoy a range of music from pop to classical as I myself do.

It is highly unlikely as the SACD was in the bag years ago. The press release pluralizes CD, DVD and Blu-ray, SACD is left in the singular which reads that only Wish You Were Here will see SACD release.

Fortunately that gives you an affordable way to get WYWH in high resolution surround sound, without forking out $100 for the Blu-ray.

Shame they don't throw the Quad mixes on the Blu-ray in lossless with everything else already on there and sell it as a separate SKU.
