As I am NOT at liberty to divulge any further info, let it be known that a certain company specializing in SACD reissues will soon be tackling the entire Simon and Garfunkel catalog in multi~channel.

Ralph, four years down the road, is this really going to happen (or has it and somehow I missed it?) I almost bit just recently at the two AFs, simply because these two albums (plus the other three originals) defined my youth ... I refuse, however, to shell out 50 dollars a pop for these red book CDs that have had mixed reviews, at best ...

Alex.....my trusty crystal ball failed me.

But Alas, Audio Fidelity who released the original (and possibly questionable) S&G 24k Gold Discs might well go multichannel revisiting some of it's older RBCD releases and possibly re~release them as 'gold~tinted' hybrid SACDs (at roughly the same price).

Only the future will tell.

The ball is now in mothBALLS!

I know they recorded the album "Bridge" in 16 channels separately

Now the question is: Where is the 16 channels analog tape multi tracks??

why they do not convert this tape 16 channels to DSD digital??

(with 16 channels in the hands they can to do a new mix 2.0 and 5.1 surround)

I have S&G from Audio Fidelity and I think they sound great. I also plan on getting them as HD downloads and I hope they sound better but I do think Audio Fidelity did a fine job here.

It was announced on the HDtracks Facebook page yesterday. The download releases usually follow very soon after the announcement, within a couple of days. They just list the album titles, no other information.

Could be an expensive week then, with the George Harrison Apple remasters coming at 24/96 also.

Sony generally have done a great job with the hi-res files they provide to HD Tracks and others, these should be very good.

Except maybe Bridge Over Troubled Waters where the master tape is long gone. Hopefully the download will be a remix rather than using some lesser generation file tape.

I have the 90's Limited Edition MasterSound SBM 24K Gold RBCD mastered by Doug Sax (in the elongated packaging and pressed in Japan) from Columbia Records of Bridge Over Troubled Water. A disclaimer in the liner notes states "Due to the unprecedented popularity of this album the original master tapes were used a great many times and we are aware of certain artifacts resulting from oxide loss in the tapes. Rather than try to patch these things from safety copies, we preferred to keep these small blemishes in order to preserve the full sonic character of the original master." However, I must say It does sound great. Unfortunately the DR Database has no listing and consequently no scores for this album.

Bear in mind that was 25 years ago. The last time the actual tape was used was for the Classic Records vinyl reissue mastered by Bernie Grundman.
