Excellent. Sterling is getting into the game.

This is fantastic news! I enjoy their adventurous repertoire and buy many of their RBCD's so SACD is icing on the cake.

I don´t think you can expect all future releases from Sterling to be SACD´s. The next release, a symphony by Ole Olsen, will be SACD.

No, I know they won't all be. A few would be nice, though.

So who didn't recommend this one and why?

Ignorance, as always, Raffy, is your specialty.

BTW, John, thank you for your review.

It was I who clicked the dreaded button. Why? Because the music is nothing special at all. A rather nice slow movement in no 1, but I find it to be standard Leipzig-School music with no originality.

Thank you, but did you buy it and then press the button? If you did not buy it then I see no credence in your vote. Worthless, in other words. What do you want, more Mahler?

Post by Edvin January 2, 2010 (9 of 24)
I have it and have listened to it. So keep your shirt on old boy. No, I don´t want more Mahler, I want more Hindemith, Stravinsky, Sculthorpe, Nystroem, Vine, Lilburn, Roy Harris, Schuman, Copland, Walton, Howells, Bridge, Berg, Schoenberg, Blomdahl, Nielsen, Nörgård, Honegger, Poulenc, Puccini, Britten, Rimsky-Korsakov, Borodin, Nörholm, Lidholm, Berlioz, Liszt, Englund, Klami, Aare Merikanto and many many more. And I want it all played by the VPO, BPO and Concertgebouw and LSO. Maybe one or two by Mariinsky. But I can do without all these third or fourth rate composers who wrote anacronistic music that sound like academic exercises.

Thanks Thomas, I'll pass on this one as I don't like academic exercises, I like exciting, colorful music. So I will look elsewhere.
