I got another email from Decca. They think there was a small defective batch from Hong Kong. I agreed to send my disc in for a replacement and they offered me another Mercury disc of my choosing!

I finally got the replacement disc in the mail, along with another Mercury disc of my choosing. It works just fine! There was a problem in some of the production run out of Hong Kong, with jitter and push-pull issues.

Cool! I just ordered another copy along with 3 of the new Mercury Living Presence releases. Hopefully Amazon has sold all of the defectives in the meantime!

I have a Denon 2900 and the Steely Dan Guacho SACD will only play some of the time but I have played hundreds of discs and that is the only one that has problems. On an ealier post someone said that those machines can sometimes be troublesome with certain discs.

I only have one MLP disc, the Rodrigo/Vivaldi: Guitar Concertos. It sounds fine out of the speakers, however I can hear that the player isn't totally happy as the mechanism is making a quiet 'thrick thrick' sound constantly. My player is a Sony XE680. Anybody else had any similar effects?

I have had the Byron Janis Rachmaninov MLP for many months and it always played with no problems on my Sony 777es.
Yesterday I tried to play it and my machine read 'TOC error'. I tried again with the same result, but after a few times the TOC was read and the disc played fine until the middle of the Rach 2 when it started jumping and stuttering.
I am having no trouble with any other MLPs and all other discs also play perfectly.
This thread is now quite old and I wonder if copies of this disc that played perfectly in the past for some posters still do.
I would also be grateful if someone who had this problem could tell me who to contact to get the disc replaced.
Thank you

The dealer you purchased from is supposed to send the disc back for replacement as your contract was with the dealer not the manufacturer; a friendly dealer may send it back for you even if you didn't buy from him/her (careful, careful, be PC).

Decca's internet "contact" is still down while they cope with all the enquiries about Mercury, but I'm certain they'll replace if the dealer won't.

Thanks for the information Peter. I can't remember where I got it as I bought it as soon as it was released.
I'll try your suggestions.
Thank you also for your prompt reply.
