Hey Robert, what happened with the Qobuz Studio Masters. Did they answer properly, why they sell 16-bit stuff as studio masters?
yours,
thomian

No, I never got an answer out of them. Par for the course, I'd say, in this racket (eClassical excepted...). They did respond, but, when they understood the problem, that was it.

Robert Hi

With all due respect, you are close to dancing on dangerous ground here.

Slagging off other download vendors whilst praising yours (even tongue in cheek) could, perhaps, be misinterpreted in some quarters?

Cheers

Jon

Yes, you're right, but I get angry, when I cannot get an answer to a simple question, all the more when I am the rightholder. And I do think the whole downloading business needs to be cleaned up. Nevertheless, you are right.

I've received an email from the orchestra confirming it. Just finished making a sustaining contribution. Hope that many others do the same.

Dear Robert, now that everything is slowly getting in good shape at Minnesota, can we dream of finishing the Sibelius Symphonic cycle?

I will also dare to suggest you another project which I believe would be ideal for these forces under the BIS direction. I know it might sound obvious, but how about recording a full Bartok program? Of course, the Concerto for Orchestra coupled with another orchestral tour de force of your choice (Music for strings, percussion and celesta, The Miraculous Mandarin, the Divertimento, etc). If it comes as good as Stravisnky's Rite it would be stunning. What do you think?

I am a fan of a previous Bartok only album by BIS, the Tapiola Sinfonietta playing Music for strings/Divertimento/etc) which I find stupendous. I always thought you would do a perfect Bartok Concerto for Orchestra and I am curious why you never came up with this recording.

Is this a new recording, or just a repackaging of "The Sound of Sibelius"

Good catch. The 2009 release (Sound of Sibelius) only has two of the four Lemminkainen Suite movements (mvmts 2 & 4) but the timings are identical to the new release. So, perhaps the whole suite was recorded back then but only now seeing a complete release OR they came back and recorded movements 1 & 3 for this new release.
