John Miller's analytic review got me thinking that I should order this disc. But firstly I want to hear other users throughs about the album. What can you say about the surround sound - are the rears used for the ambience? It would be nice to know.
For me, Mahler's Tenth is always a very moving [listening] experience and I guess that this one is an impressive addition to the catalogue.

I am not qualified to assess the various completions of Mahler's Tenth. I did purchase this disc a few months ago on zeus' recommendation. I can say that you will be happy with the SQ. This was recorded back when Exton was still recording and releasing in MC.

I haven't looked since I purchased it, but at the time there were Japanese sellers on Amazon that were offering reasonable prices considering it was being shipped from Japan.

EDIT: of course, I have no clue about shipping to Finland. Also, in direct answer to your question, yes the MC mix is conventional, so it is ambience in the rears.

Do you have any idea where can I order the score of this reconstruction? The full score of the Cooke's arrangement is already on sale (published by Faber Music) and also the Barshai's version is available to order (published by Universal Edition).
But I cannot find the score of this - Samale & Mazzucca - version. Is it unpublished? Is it only available as a copy of the manuscript? It would be nice to know because I will buy the score at the same time with the SACD.

This SACD package does contain some parts of the score as separate inlay.

I've just ordered a copy and look forward to hearing it; which no doubt, will contrast with my Rattle/BPO DVD-A.

I do not own this disc, but I own Das Lied Der Erde....by Sieghart - wonderful performance and my premiere for Stotijn/Litaker singers. I would not hesitate if it would not for Rattle/BPO Deryck Cooke version.

Sieghart has Mahler on his sleeve and in his heart as well.

I'm not familiar with any of Sieghart's works, so what you say gives me hope it'll be a worthwhile purchase :)

The Rattle/BPO performance on DVD-A does it for me too David, but if the Sieghart performance pleases Zues and John Miller, maybe it'll please me too...

Fwiw, I've got Das Lied von der Erde as pictured above and it does it for me every time :)
