It seems this product isn't listed on sa-cd.net and the 'Submit' facility is currently down, so I thought I'd just start a thread about it in the meantime.

My copy arrived today and I have to say it's an absolute banker if you like the album and have the means to play the 5.1 mix. My ears also tell me the dynamic range is very good, probably not quite on par with many Japanese SHM-SACD releases in that regard, but very good nevertheless and the m/c mix is well balanced throughout and creates a very spacious sound.

I think if I'd plumped for the SACD, it would make it into my Top 10 SACDs no sweat and this CD+BDA set makes it into my Other hi-res Top 10 just as easily. If you haven't bought it yet and have the inclination and means to play the 5.1 mix, what the hell are you waiting for!?

Yeah I saw the SACD thread, but there's no listing for the CD+BDA.

Here's my review of the CD/Blu-ray combo for anyone who's interested in reading it:

What's the packaging like on this? Stores around here don't stock it, since it's not just a CD and audio only Blu-ray confuses them. A clerk at a local store says a certain type of Blu-ray player is required. Idiots.

Luna65, are you going to review the SACD mch, also? That would be cool to get same reviewer on the two different formats.

It's a tri-fold digipack and although quite slim, is taller and wider than a regular CD case and in my situation, is stored with other over-sized packaged goods such as the Wish You Were Here SACD and Bob Marley Legend BDA.

Hey Mark, are you holding out for the SACD? It was my first choice for convenience of ripping, but was a tad pricey, so I opted for the BDA instead. If the SACD had been £20, perhaps even £25 I would have sprung, but £33 was over my mental budget. Regardless, if and when you buy either format, you're in for a treat! :)

I did review the 5.1 mix when it was previewed at the PF Conference, although it was pre-authoring (straight from JG's SADiE), there were no changes made to the mix, so I didn't feel it was necessary to review the SACD (plus I didn't get my copy until Thursday); that's also why this particular review was less about the Surround aspect because I had already written about it.

Julie, thank you.

Derek, if I purchased any hard disc I wouldn't be able to rip unless I bought RBCD in the BD~A combo pack.

All my little audiophile sites on Facebook are all over the place as to the liking of it. I think, that in the end the sonic quality is going to be great, but the performance is not iconic to the point where it is "I am so happy I have this I am going to play it all the time".
Reminds me of Floyd's, Endless River, a sonic beauty in surround, but....

I decided to spend my money on Joe Satriani, stereo, 24/96Khz, Shockwave Supernova. Sounds great!

I am Amused To Death at all the chatter, I will wait.
