Perhaps it's the relative infancy of the market, but is there a reason we don't list and review hi-rez digital downloads on this site? (the sa-cd.net name notwithstanding ;-0)

And, an unrelated question - why has amazon.jp been removed from the links that sit alongside most title/reviews?

Kind regards,
maikeru

The focus of this site is currently disc-based media, specifically Super Audio CD and Blu-ray Audio. I do not however rule out future coverage of downloads.

As for DSD downloads, most (but not all) of these are currently available on Super Audio CD. The data for a paid download should be identical to that on the corresponding disc. The details, reviews etc of the disc here could then be read as applying equally to the download.

I believe that DSD downloads should be less expensive than the SACDs. With the SACD I get a booklet, a disk and a case, and it also covers the cost of manufacturing, shipping and retailing.

That is exactly why I have had my hand on the trigger for purchasing downloads and can't seem to pull the trigger because I don't get the packaging.

I have been collecting music since 1966. In the 2000's I garaged sale my disc's, took my LP's to Amoeba, and gave away what I could. My new thing was Itunes, no mess, no fuss, and either cheaper or the same cost as RBCD.

In 2012 I had this emotional void because I had a music collection that I found hard to listen to and I was learning nothing. So I went back to hard disc buying and I am much happier.

Actually Eddie Trunk on That Metal Show, always would talk about how he liked the hard disc over downloads, which got me going again.

Now we have Hi Rez downloads and lots more choices. I have a HDTracks account, Bluesound Vault, takes any size Flac, no DSD, so I am ready to go and I have purchased maybe 3?

With what appears to be a continuous stream of Blu Ray, SACD, music in the Rock genre that I prefer I will stick with the hard disc for now. But as always I never rule out changing my mind.

Adding a Hi Rez column to this site, might sway me as I would be able to read others thoughts and opinions.
