Oh YAWN...! Another string quartet biggie-sized for orchestra. D810 is (or was?) a Great Quartet, but there is NO SACD of the quartet -- yet now we have TWO up-sized versions.
Sorry, can't help myself. Grump grump grump!

For me the shocker was: Why a single movement (Adagietto) from Mahler's 5th Symphony, with a ton of complete Mahler 5th Symphonies on SACD?
Curious who is going to buy this?

I repeat: GRUMP!
I agree. My partner has the Telarc recording and, having heard it once, i may conceivably play it again, but would certainly not need a second let alone a third recording. Is it just that its a Mahler transcripton, and that's supposed to sell? Along with two new Mahler 5s this week alone in SACD and another Mahler Symp recording too. Are the companies really right in thinking that no-one would buy the quartet version, - cos' I'd buy a good version (probably not by the Mandelring's) in a second. GRUMP! B
