Personally although not in France I do not have a problem with Qobuz. Just email and ask them for access. Well it worked for me.

Still having problems obtaining downloads from Qobuz(or HDTracks or Acoustic Sounds)?

SO if your not in the correct region of the world what can you do? PROXY.

Obtain a proxy service that makes it look as if you are connecting from a relevant acceptable region. Your account may also require an address and telephone number in the relevant region - look up a famous landmark, shop, hotel etc. and use that.

Personally I use ChrisPC but be careful when installing DO NOT go with the default options!! as it tries to install spamware, not malicious, just annoying. BackUp your registry before installing.

Using Proxy is alot slower so for sites with their own downloaders, after making purchases and the downloader starts, stop it. Close your proxy connection then restart the downloader for faster downloads. This at least works for me.

Get a Google account, you have Drive, Docs, Photos, Slides, Wallet and much more. My whole life is archived there, with dual tier identification using Google Authenticator, safer than your bank really.

You just placed you whole life in the hand of a company that lives of the advertising revenue based on your data and does not refrain from reading your emails. Good luck.

Qobuz, at any point in time there will be multiple promotions going ... some of which you can combine. Here's where to find out what's on offer:

Greetings lennyw :)

Yes, the world being what it is, "price differences" between download sites are likely to be competitive.

However, like my support in choosing to buy Ken's work at Marantz, I remain keenly aware of Qobuz' offers—looking firstly to purchase from them, supporting...

My first and last post for some time.

Merely to note my lack of surprise that SACD.net is now affiliated with Qobuz, a bunch of gallic crooks who play fast and loose with the files, the music and - above all - their customers.

I have lost track of the number of mis-labellings and mis-representations, as well as up-sampled recordings on their site. As noted by Bissie and others. Caveat emptor.

Plus don't ever try and comment, feedback or ask for help from them when a faulty download is provided. They will just ignore you. Save your breath and go elsewhere.

Yes, they're cheap. So are peanuts.

All in all, you guys belong together.

Just because Qobuz is now a site sponsor does not mean you need to buy from them. I don't see how this changes anything. This site still lists SACDs and BD-A discs, not downloads.

Personally I have found their customer service excellent. I have had one issue with a download and not only did they thank me for bringing it to their attention they removed it from sale, corrected the download and also offered me a free album (any) for my troubles.

Being one of the biggest download sites in the world I am sure there are occasional mistakes with details but overall they are very good IMHO.

I admit I am not aware of any up-sampled albums that they are selling but they are under licence to sell the products so if they are selling up-sampled recordings they must surely have come from the record company.

If you find any up-sampled recordings bring it to their attention. I'm sure they will take appropriate action because it is detrimental to their reputation if they don't.

OK, just to make it clear.

I promptly brought to their attention a faulty track on the Gorecki Concerto-cantata recording on Naxos.

About 6 minutes into track 1, the music disappears and we are left with around 5 minutes of extremely loud hiss and distortion - at levels which could put speakers/power amp or even ears at risk. So, not a trivial issue.

This fault was identically repeated on FLAC, WAV and AIFF 24/96 downloads.

So I posted it on forum as a warning and also completed a response form, asking politely for a refund or supply of non-faulty track.

Not only did Qobuz not acknowledge or respond to the email, they actually removed the post from the help forum.

Is that the action of a responsible vendor? Even making allowance for the fact that they're French...

How are you Jon ? I trust all else is well :)

A quick thought, Qobuz seems to like onenairb's reporting...

As you know, we're idiocyncratic ; what's at stake ?

You might've reached Jeanne...

Hi.

Very well, thanks - just not posting (apart from this one).

In a spirit of fairness, I can report that Qobuz finally responded - after several tries, and only eventually in response to a post on the UK site, rather than the French.

They confirmed the faulty track and offered a replacement download.

They also indicated they would withdraw the faulty Naxos from sale, but have not done this yet.

So, until they do, please avoid track 1 of :

http://www.qobuz.com/fr-fr/album/concerto-cantata-henryk-gorecki/0747313287277

.... if you value your speakers, power amp(s), ears and general sanity. It sure ain't pretty!

Hello Jon, good to hear that you're well.
Checking this site this morning I again realize one of the reasons you are not posting here much these days.
I had to scroll through to page 2 before There was anything at all of interest to me too. The first page is full of single rock titles that could easily have been clumped together in ONE single post!
And frankly I don't quite see much reason to release any of those as SACDs in the first place. I had some of them as a teenager but both musically and SQ wise,I was never a fan of The Rolling Stones. They made too much noise and far too little music for my taste.

On the other hand if you have downloaded any good music lately let us or at least me know via mail.
Cheers chris
