I can't understand why Pentatone omitted the Brahms Sonata Op.2 that was paired with the Paganini Variations on the original LP. With this disc's stingy playing time of 46 minutes, the Sonata would have easily fit. Still, this is a wonderful recording.

The Paganini Variations and Schumann Kinderszenen were recorded in March 1974 in Amsterdam, while the Brahms Sonata 2 was recorded in June 1973 in Germany

Maybe the sonata was recorded in stereo only. The RQR series is limited to reissues of quad recordings.
