I think there are some Depeche Mode SACDs not listed on SA-CD.net.

clues to companion DVD format
Is there anyway to determine if the companion DVD is in the PAL or NTSC format ?

With the "Playing the Angel" release, the US version was redbook CD + NTSC DVD and the non-US version was SACD + PAL DVD.
What I want is SACD + NTSC DVD.

If the upcoming releases are on the Mute Records label, the DVD will be PAL.

Hows this for an idea? Buy both and take the NTSC DVD out of the CD version and combine it with the SACD from the PAL version.

Then sell the CD version with the PAL DVD on eBay. There is bound to be Depeche Mode lovers in PAL countries who are not interested in SACD.

Don't DVD players & TV's in North America manage playback of both formats as they do in Europe? I'd be surprised if more recent hardware (say about 5 years or younger) didn't.

OTT; A BBC technician that I used to know said that NTSC stood for "Never Twice the Same Colour"! Ah, what pride can lead one to say...

No, they don't. The vast majority of DVD players and televisions sold here are hardwired for NTSC. I see no signs of that changing.

BBC jokes aside, PAL is a better technology than NTSC for standard-definition television.

So you dont want the pictures in black and white then.......
I dont think a PAL system could cope with the amount of advertising you get with NTSC television sets/
This problem has surely been encounted in the introduction of Dual Disc.
I must admit the latest rumblings in that arena seem to be its hearing the Death Knoll already in 12 months.(even quicker than dvda...) .Much less than a year over this side of the pond//If it actually got started.
Interesting link provided..
I loved the comment that people who had bought a dual disc MIGHT buy another one...How could it fail.?...Dave
