I have now listened to the AP SACD version of Second Helping, comparing to my "pry my hand off of" MFSL Ultradisc version. All I keep saying/thinking when I play the AP SACD is WOW. I can't believe how great this sounds! I mean it's Skynyrd, down home beer-drinking southern rock...how much attention would be given to fidelity? Plenty! On this release, the tone of the guitars is so life-like...you hear every strum of each one! The drums/cymbals, especially the high-hats...you can hear the metallic clap, you hear the stick-to metal clink, the shimmery decay is wonderful. The song "I need you" is so warm and flowing. Within call me the breeze, around the 1:56 mark, there is an off-mic comment that I've never detected before...got my attention! Of the three Skynyd SACDs I have, this one is tops in sound/fidelity by far.
The old gold MFSL cd has always been a favorite of mine and sound really good, but I do not think it will be played very often now that this SACD is in my collection.
