Enesco's Romanian Rhapsody was the first piece of classical music I remember hearing as a child. I have always been enchanted by its wonderful colors and the rhythmic vitality which is so suggestive of folk music and dance - which is, of course, what it is based on!
I have also many times heard the stereo version of this wonderful recording. And so it was with much anticipation that I eagerly looked forward to hearing this SA release. I was NOT disappointed!
One is reminded of why one listens to SA in the first place - all of the clear demarcations of sounds - the clarity as each section of the orchestra "speaks" in its turn - the robustness of the bass strings and the rounded brilliance of the brass - it is ALL here in this terrific remastering of the original!
Enjoy it for what it is - an unabashed celebration of national pride along with a healthy dose of Romantic flair and spirited fun!
