For several days I was thinkin to buy this album. I've already the normal cd wich is good. There was no review for it, so I was very curious to put the SACD in my player. I've only listen this SACD in multichannel mode.

After listen the whole SACD, my conclusion is that the sonics are very good and orchestral what I hoped for (very clear and pure), but it's not a SACD copy of the original cd. they have deleted/add some effects.
Also the first track is one minute shorter and track 8 (Dr. Mabuse) is cut in two pieces (number 10: Strenght to Dream) and also shorter.

Overall, it's a very good SACD with good sonics and performance and some new features. For the one who likes the music I would recommand this album.

I won’t waste any words about the music here, as I still believe that this is probably the best single album under the ZTT label. There are slight differences from the redbook, notably the last 3 tracks (as explained below).

Sonically, it sounds better overall. Especially the opening track “Dream within a dream”, trumpet being more smudged (but still focused) and Brucken’s narration slightly more distant, which I found more appropriate for the Poe’s poem. Also, the marimba rotates clockwise all the time, which puts the listener in a whirlpool of sound. For the rest, the surround mix is just as good, but not outrageous as I might have expected, knowing how groundbreaking this album was when it appeared for the first time. But then, this music is not so full of strange effects as on FGTH’s disc, which really blossomed in MC. Each track starts with some kind of sound effects, and that is particularly well done. My (sonically in MC) favourite track in this new guise is “Dr Mabuse”.

I didn’t gain any new perspective about Propaganda’s music from this MC mix, but on the other hand I am again and again reassured what a great band they were, or should I said what a great job Trevor Horn did with them. This issue also benefits from a very informative essay about the group, if you are new to Propaganda you’ll learn all you need to know. This used to be my most played non-classical CD, and it still has a very special place now on our SACD shelf.

I have all ZTT sacd releases and this is one of the best.
Propaganda's Secret wish sounds so good on this mc SACD, just another good job from Trevor Horn.
It's not a cheap one (limited ZTT release) but the money more then worth.
Claudia Bruckens voice sounds so clear and all the instruments are well placed.
Some multichannel SACD's given a bad feeling when listening to. This one sounded like an Angel pissed in your ears. So damn good.
This is one of my favorite SACD's.

I guess this is a "well-regarded" recording...but a little too harsh for my taste. Dance music from hell? Could be. Sound is sharp as a razor....and it cuts as deep.

This sacd is among the best that I have in my collection, alongside Art of Noise's Daft, Floyd's Dark Side of The Moon and Dire Straits' Brothers in Arms.

When it comes to music recording I'm very demanding, but his cd delivers. It has great, sharp sonics and a perfect use of all 6 channels. Stand-out tracks are Dream Within A Dream, Dr Mabuse and Frozen Faces. But the rest is really second to none, though.

The thing with MC sacd's is that sometimes sounds seem to lose their depth and warmth by sending them through separate channels. Often it gives the sound less density. But not this one. There's a full bodied sound throughout he whole album. Preferably played rather loud to enjoy it to the full.

A Horn/Lipson produced album deserves hardly a better reworking than this one.

This is one of my favorite lp's from the 80's so I am somewjat biased. Of the few dozen or so HD-Audio discs I have I favor this one the most. If you are married to the cd there may be some dissapointments as there are some differences, but if you like this record and claudia's voice as much as I you will love this mc mix. THe bass on "The Murder of Love" will blow your gentitals into your body cavity. Need I say more, there is not one bad track on the entire album, how many records can you say that about? This disc is a little treasure, don't contemplate .... just get IT!!!
