Performance:   Sonics:
This is one of my favorate female vocal albums. In particular, I like the Spanish Harlem and Grandmother selections.

Rebecca Pidgeon's voice reminds be of an Irish singer, but If I remember correctly , she's not from Irelend.

The cuts have variety and all are listenable.

I give both the sonics and performance a 4.5.

Buy this one (or her "Retrospective") just for for her version of "Spanish Harlem." The arrangement just adds to the quality and is done with a light and sensitive touch.

She has a pure sound with a touch of a Scottish accent that is quite sexy.

She sounds like your girlfriend ought to sound.

What can I say, I am a fan. I bought this album after downloading her Four Marys album as FLAC files. I loved the album and decided to seek out some other work of hers. That is how I wound up with this SACD.

The first listen or two had me a bit disappointed. I think I was expecting something like the Celtic/Scottish sound of the Four Marys work. But even at that I still found the recording itself to be top-notch. Her vocals are very clean and appealing and the instruments are well placed and distinct in the sound field. A few more listens had me falling in love with the artistry of this songs and how well she really can sing.

If you enjoy female vocals and easy listening, simple music then I don't believe you can go wrong with this SACD.
