Barb, I sincerely can't understand what SACD of this title you are writing about. Are you sure you are reviewing the SACD of this, or is it some DSD mastering of it on CD? I've got the JSACD of this title - the only version I know exists on this format - and it must be one of the most dynamic SACDs ...

As Flytomars mentions, there is a spike of signal(noise?) at about 15,500 Hz, but what he does not say is that the spike never goes above -48db. As per my personal analysis - after doing my own recording of the material and checking out the spectral display -, the 'noise' seems to be especially ...

This is a wonderful mix and marvelous work -as usual- from Elliot Scheiner. To those who don't know, Scheiner has worked as an engineer in many of Steely Dan's albums, including the original version of "Gaucho" (1980). While the songs on this album are quite nice and laid back I find its 5.1 mix to be uninteresting and flat, lacking the depth heard on other recordings with this type of ensembles. The voice, while warm, has very strong sibilance that subtracts the smoothness one expects of a recording of this type. ...
