A wonderful performance by Lang Lang, though I might quibble a bit with some of the tempos. However, I have to say that I was somewhat disappointed with this CD. I have NOT given this CD this highest Performance Rating (even though it DID receive the 2004 Grammy for Best Orchestral Performance) due mostly to the conducting. Winner of the Grammy for "Best Orchestral Performance" in 2003! Add to this the incredible audio we have all come to expect in this remarkabe series, and you have an offering which is a "must have!" Recorded shortly after the tragedy of September 11, this recording captures the dark pathos of those ...

Another spectacular recording from MTT and the SFS! The tempos are all deliciously convincing, and the clarity is of the highest caliber! Laura Claycomb's soprano voice is well tempered to the heavenly playfullness of the finale. MTT captures the almost Mozart-like directness of this translucent ...

Even though there IS clarity here, it is NOT that much better than the original stereo release - save for the Weinberger which comes off ...
