The HDCD version of this album is somewhat compressed but sounds far better than it's DR Database scores would indicate. For that reason I held out on buying this sacd because I thought any improvements would be minimal at best. Thankfully, I was wrong. This disc is far better than the HDCD and ... more

This is a wonderful disc and without doubt a step above the original CD and the remixed CD versions. Very clean, excellent soundstage and a very balanced / flat transfer as far as I can tell. I listed to this in 2ch only.

Perhaps one of the greatest debut albums of all time. Unfortunately, the sound quality of this disc is woeful. I prefer the sound of the original CD and the remix CD over this one - and by a good margin as well. Analogue's review pretty much says it all

Spirit in the Sky, Get it On, Schools Out, China Grove, Hot Blooded, and Can't Get Enough of your Love make this disc well worth owning. Some of the tracks like Wild Thing I can take or leave but the ones mentioned previously are more than enough to make this a disc worth owning

Agree with Analogues assessment of Nights in White Satin - but the rest of the disc I was very impressed by. Back on the Chain Gang, Feels ... more

James Dean left a far greater legacy to motion pictures than Jeff Buckley did to music. People may not have liked his style but there is no doubt he demanded attention for his powerful portrayal of characters. That it would be difficult to imagine others of such a young age emulating what he did on screen would be an understatement. ... more

A few people here might need to invest in a sense of humour. When this came out it was popular with teenage girls. Very few males would have been caught dead with a copy on any format. As an album it rode on the back of a few covers with original material being poor to average at best. Considering Jeff Buckley never made an album of original ... more

I own an original Dutch / Holland version of Never Mind the Bullocks and while it is not compressed it also sounds flat and boring. I rarely, if ever give it a spin. The SACD, I play often because to me it's just a more positive experience. I'm pogoing around the room like a madman with this SACD turned to eleven. Those that say it is fatiguing ... more
