Michael Tilson Thomas and San Francisco Symphony Orchestra are made many outstanding recordings for Avie label. The 5.0 multi-channel quality is surrounding, and it captured Davies Concert Hall's resounding acoustic. These performances of Beethoven's much-loved Seventh Symphony and Leonore Overture No. 3 are recorded in 2011, and live energy is stunning: the orchestra's playing is top level, and Tilson Thomas leads his band in furiously adventure. I heard many recordings of Beethoven's Leonore Overture No. 3, but this beats all previous releases: the first loudly G note accord is stunning, and the famous freedom theme sounds excellent: clarinets and bassoons are so beautiful! The fast main theme comes closely in Avie's surrounding recording, and SFS plays virtuosity. I heard the famous off-stage trumpet in my surround speakers, and it is really effectively moment. The victoriously end is powerfully and wildly. Seventh Symphony in A major (Op. 92) is composed when composer was 42 years old, and it contains Beethoven's the most thrillingly melodies and moments. First movement begin's first oboes gentle solo, and SFS plays the loudly accords very strongly: Michael Tilson Thomas really knows this score. The fast main thema is breathtaking. The famous slow movement sounds lonely and silently, and there are some really great ideas. Contrabassos pizzicatos in the middle scene sounds resonantly and warmly, and clarinets quiet voice is amazing. Third movement is also very good, and dazzling finale gets you jumping on the walls. :) BBC Music Magazine got five stars, and I cannot say more. Very strong recommendation for all Beethoven fans.
