Performance:   Sonics:
Rafael Kubelik was one of the best Dvorak conductors of his generation and of all time.

These performances are classics of the grammophone, now restored with the SACD process. The sound has improved (prom my previous cd) but it still sounds a bit boxy (specially the lower ranges), but it is something that cannot be avoided, these performances being 50 years old.

But what is really important (for me at least) is the quality of the readings, and these are superb. The VPO is in top form, and Kubelik gives a suitably contracted, at times lyrical and at times dramatic leadership. One to have.
