Sorry guys, IMHO, again, another 'play once' (or maybe twice) only disc for me. While the sound is excellent with everything sounds polished and perfect, things doesn't seem to gell.. too sterile and very little passion in the singing and the overall music and fast forwarded the tracks. On the second spin (just to justify the price of the disc), I can't go beyond 'Dindi'. To be fair a higher rating (3 or 4 stars for the sound quality/sonics). I think best described by Art Dudley (Stereophile) of the artist's music as something akin to 'audiophile's music'.

Performance: Sonics: |
I did not know what to expect when I found this latest Groovenote release in my mailbox, Jacintha has not previously given me the kinds of emotive reactions that I look for from jazz-inspired vocalists. I was, in fact, so disappointed with AUTUMN LEAVES that I traded it in at my local used record store just a few days after I bought it. That isn't the case here, and I am pleased to say that Jacintha seems to have found her niche.
The ten songs found here are primarily Jobim standards, and despite my rather extensive Bossa Nova collection, I must say I was quite surprised to hear a couple of these sung in English ( Desafinado, How Insensitive, So Nice — aka Summer Samba — and Dindi, particularly). Jacintha's approach to these is just as any lover of Bossa Nova would hope: relaxed and vibrant at the same time. The sextet of musicians backing her up show an equally admirable affinity for the music. Wow! What a record!
The sound is exquisite in every way too.
