Moloko are much more than "a British pop/dance act that shot to fame a couple of years ago when they scored a big hit all around Europe." What an American point of view!

Moloko have been making quality electronic trip-hop and dance music for years now. roisin Murphy has an instantly recognisable voice, and - it's true - they have had a few successes in the charts.

Why that would make one "wonder if this is the right musical choice for HiRez" is beyond me. Their music is as carefully-constructed and rich as loads of other records that don't happen to be dancey (as that seems to be the album's crime).

As for the "sound quality" being "good but not great," I really couldn't agree. It's certainly what you could call an "agressive" surround mix, with element very deliberately, almost heavy-handedly, placed in various corners, or moving between speakers. However, sounds are clear, the treble is excellent wihtout being agressive... I can't see what the problem could be for some.

Except that it's not Beethoven obviously.

If you like a good bit of varied electronic music with exceptional vocals and an entertaining surround mix, I would check this out.

Moloko is a British pop/dance act that shot to fame a couple of years ago when they scored a big hit all around Europe. This is their first new album after their big break. They have stayed true to their pop/dance roots.
I own a lot of the pop/dance releases on SACD and one can still wonder if this is the right musical choice for HiRez. Sound quality is good but not great, but the music makes up for it. If you're into popular dance based pop than this is a great buy.
