MusicTAP reports (www.musictap.net):

Hey!! Here's the triumphant return of Hybrid SACD from Sony. I've bolded it to bring extra attention. On December 6 of this year, Epic is going to release an SACD Multichannel title for Duran Duran and their best-selling Astronaut. Keep those fingers crossed that this turns into a new trend.

I will be picking this SACD up when, and if, it comes out.

If this is true, that is great news. Maybe more of those Dualdisc releases will get released to SACD. However, with who is reporting this, I have my doubts. In my experience, Musictap has a horrible record when it comes to reporting news. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Long live SACD. Universal Records need to take a hard look at where their future lies.

Thanks for this news. I would be buying a few copies of this if it actually comes out. Turns out that I have several friends who are SACD-capable but don't buy SACDs or know what they are...

As an old Duran Duran fan since the late 70's, I am completely thrilled at the prospect of this SACD release, and it would represent a wonderful Christmas gift to me from Sony/BMG. (Crossing my fingers!)

Musictap.net is reporting the following....

>>>As if this weren't enough, I've just found out that Columbia plans a Multichannel SACD for John Mayer and his Room For Squares (2001) releasing the gem on December 13. Cross those fingers, SACD lovers...cross..those..fingers!!

Is this IT? Apocalypse? Change of heart? What?! Columbia unleashes Switchfoot and their Beautiful Letdown on Multichannel SACD on December 13.

I hope these rumors are turning out to be true.

Just a note....the rumored Duran Duran SACD will be the group's debut on Sony Music, "Astronaut". It's not SACD versions of their 80s album like "Rio". Still, "Astronaut" is the first album since the 80s with all the original members and music is very good.

I remember way back reading about a possible "restart" on the SACD program by Sony in the Fall of this year. Several recent developments do point to this direction....the approval of HDMI v1.2 for digital output on SACD, these rumored Sony hybrids, possible development on the Genesis SACDs, Sony titles licensed to Mobile Fidelity for release on SACD, etc....

SACD's heart is still ticking strong.

Don't forget the War of the Worlds SACD or the Super Furry Animals' Love Kraft, both of which are on Sony, albeit Europe only. Both are 2005 releases.

As we say in Tennessee, 'bout damn time!

The "War of the Worlds" SACD was officially released by Sony here in the US.
