How do you know that all three actually bought and listened to this SACD? It has come out just recently in Germany and France and has not even been released in the U.K., the U.S., or Canada. I am still waiting to lay my hands on it - and will have to wait for quite some time before I can.

This "evaluation" may come from three people who dislike BIS on principle, value only DSD recordings, or are unsympathetic towards anything written later than, let us say, Debussy and Ravel. Who knows? Frankly, if I were you I would not care too much, as this "recommendation" feature is unpredictable in the extreme and not very representative.

I agree with the other posters: a most desirable recording, unbeatable as far as repertoire is concerned. Let others discuss ad nauseam the relative merit of new Mahler 1's.

Hmmmm. I am just a "dummer Schwede" (dumb Swede), and pretty naïve at that, so I just assumed that noone would press a button, thereby floccinaucinihilipilificationing something as unique as this, unless they had heard it and found it wanting for one reason or another.

Maybe I thereby proved the point about being a "dummer Schwede", but, yes, I was hurt.

Thanks for your comforting words.

Robert, FWIW, I plan to acquire this when released in the US.

Yes, I considered that. But, if they are Pettersson haters, why would they buy in the first place? So, logic demands that, if they bought the SACD, they are basically interested, but became disappointed somehow. It is that somehow I'd be really curious to know what it is, since I consider this to be one of the most essential SACD:s we have produced, period, and one of the best interpreted and played, and in hi-res at that. Again, I am not out to argue, nor am I supercilious about it, nor do I in any way, shape or form deny or question their rights to think whatever they like. I just plainly don't understand. And I am curious.

Maybe they haven't actually heard it and just condemned it automatically? It definitely seems odd, I grant you that!

The disc made it onto my "want list" as soon as I became aware of its existence. I also am puzzled that with its lack of availability that there are 3 who heard it and do not recommend it. Maybe they only like HIP performance of 17th century music? - but if so, why even get the disc? Surely not so you can then "not recommend" it! ?

While this important release of Allan Pettersson's 6th symphony on SACD , definitely doesn't belong in the EASY LISTENING category, it is imho very welcome in excellent SQ on SACD.
This is not background muzak. It demands your full attention.
Absolutely brilliant BIS!

Got my copy yesterday and listened with my headphones 2 times over and I was totally convinced and thrown over by this miraculous work - that great aria at the end! - and have enjoyed it very much. My cpo-copy will find it's way on the second hand market I think and I can only hope for the future this cycle will be completed. Sure there're Pettersson haters, but P.-haters who buy a P.-recording aren't just sadomasochistic, they're interested!

The "recommend" button is quite pointless.

I guess it is if one decides to misuse it by clicking on it without hearing the recording. It makes a mockery of the entire site! I am referring to the results before any availability was listed on this site. Maybe some obtained copies from off site vendors? How did they then obtain it prior to the ones listed here, I wonder?

A very positive recommendation from David Hurwitz: http://www.classicstoday.com/review/petterssons-appealingly-dismal-sixth-symphony/

Plus, I got a notice from my usual SACD supplier that the snafu over this title being "backordered" is over and it is winging it's way to me. Very much looking forward to hearing this fascinating (and ultra grim) music in this BIS production (I have the CPO RBCD).

Perhaps it just the (bad) luck of the draw that 3 Pettersson haters responded first! I have my copy on order and am personally thrilled to see his music on SACD.

I'm not a 'Pettersson-hater', not do I recall 'not recommending' it, but was curious about the music, bought the SACD, and didn't like the music. I can't accept the composer as one of the most significant of the last century.

Performance (I think) and production first rate however.

I will give it another go...
