Come to think of it. None of the Beatles' APPLE Label 'stars' (or for that matter, the Beatles themselves) have produced ANY SACDs.

But there is I'll Follow The Sun by the Beatles on the new Hybrid Stereo SACD Sampler from Hong Kong titled "Those Were The Days, Volume 2" on the WorldStar Music International label.

But ironically, Mary Hopkins "Those Were The Days" is sadly absent from this 18 track compilation (unless it's on Volume I).

Yes, first one of this series I probably won't purchase.

A bit hasty given Honeck's track record with his earlier releases of Dvorak and Strauss.

Since Kleiber's classic Vienna recording I don't think any conductor has been game enough to record and couple these two together.

My copy arrived today and am looking forward to hearing it.

Copious notes too.

This Beethoven 5 is something else. I was impressed on its first spin. How refreshing it is!

Ok I did listen to some sound clip of the Honeck Beethoven from Amazon last night and am reconsidering.

Would appreciate more comments on this recording when folks have listened to it. Do the notes give any indication whether further Beethoven releases are in the cards?

Looks like a one off.
Recording similar to the other releases.
Taken from live performances, sound is close up-front row-so little by way of front to back depth. However very dynamic with great presence and detail. Highly recommended both for performance and recording.
Only one play thru so far but I think this disc will take up residence in my Oppo over he next month or so.
