I am naive in this field .I have tendency to waste money when it comes to audio.
I am confused to go for Sony SACD 5400es Modwright or to go for Linn DS (renew DS)
I listen to Indian music with vocals ,punchy beat.
I love the multichannel or surround effect.
Any advise ,any one can compare the two.I haven't heard either .I have always bought audio equipment on reviews.Hasn't had much good experience with audio retail.
Plastic advise.

The Linn DS, whether Majik, Akurate or Klimax, doesn't play SACD.

Thanks Peter that's correct.I guess it's a comparison between Digital streamer and SACD player.
I need a good source .I am contemplating to buy one of them..Infact Linn DS Klimax Renew DS was being sold on eBay but I missed it.It was a good bargain.Renew DS is having board of old Klimax DS.(older version as there are new Klimax DS with new board.)
I have read comparison between SACD and DS on Linn forums but I have a feel that it's all about LINN.

I really do not understand why people would pay over 10000€ for a digital player, when you can build one sonically just as good or better with any PC/mac and an outboard DAC. I can quarantee you that you can get better converters than what Linn uses for less than 1000€.

Look into the Oppo BDP-95. Maybe it will do what you want and save you some money.

I agree with our Troll that one shouldn't should invest too much into a streaming client like a Linn DS, as these machines are quickly outdated in terms of functionality.

I have the Oppo 93, which I mainly use for video playback, and it's great also for playing audio files, but it has some annoying limitations (which won't be fixed by firmware upgrades) such as the lack of gapless playback. I'm sure the next model will again be much improved in this department. Audio streaming is still quite new and in fast evolution.

So the best solution for file playback is to buy a high quality DAC (which can be used for many years with multiple sources) and a cheaper streaming client, or an Oppo 95, which offers an excellent value for the money (and supports SACD).

... and if you want surround, the Linns are stereo only.

Be aware also that the ModWright Sony modifications are mainly to the two-channel analogue outputs.

Thanks for the input.I had a chance to download some FLAC audio files from Society of Sound----Bowers and Wilkins and converted to apple loss less format and listend to them on my hifi through apple TV.It was a very very nice experience .Better than my limited CD experience.
Then I started looking for other high resolution audio tracks and ended up bumping into LINN DS .As they claim that CD's ripped and played through DS sound better than CDplayers can do.
And from there I read about high rez audio and SACD.I have been educating myself through this forum and now SACD looks appealing.
Pls advise SACD should sound as good as FLAC files .
My System is A/v receiver Anthem MRX 700(just ok)-- My receiver has no capabilty to handle DSD signal ,using it as a Pre for power amp Anthem P2
And Paradigm speakers.sig 2 with paradigm surround as well.
