Anyone knows the difference between the regular version vs. the "special edition"?

The track list at amazon.de does not suggest any differences (bonus tracks etc.) to the regular cd-version. Obviously there will be an improvement as far as the sonics are concerned. I own the XRCD of it and it sounded more smooth compared to the redbook version. I wonder if it's necessary for me to buy this SA-CD because I'm really satisfied with the XRCD. But I know myself being a must-have-all-collector.....
I would appreciate if they released "Love over gold" on SA-CD. I like it better than "Brothers in arms"
Cheers

I think he was asking about the 2 SACD incarnations, one is £1 more at amazon.co.uk.

As far as I know, the pricier version comes in "Digipak" case instead of standard "Super Jewel Box" used for the cheaper version. Otherwise there shouldn't be any other variances.
I've ordered the £8.99 disc, since I don't like Digipaks. Hopefully is that the right item...

According to my retailer, who just received word of it's domestic release in Canada - the digipak version has an "embossed guitar" on the front cover, presumably silver and shiny. He didn't mention that there would be a choice between the two versions here in Canada.

I'll drink to that. It would be great to hear those little sounds in the quiet parts of Private Investigation as they were meant to be. Having said that I have BIA in vinyl and it sounds so much better that CD so I have high hopes for the SACD!

Hi Goodwood,

yes, that's exactly my opinion, too. Nearly two years ago I had a conversation with an official spokesman of the SACD-Industry here in Germany at the "Funkausstellung" in Berlin. I told him, that it would be great to hear "Love over Gold" (and, of course, "Brothers In Arms") in SA-CD. He hinted then, that there were some plans for future releases of all of the Dire Straits albums, but couldn't specify a date. As we now know, it took nearly two years to release at least one of them. OK - it took three month to remix it, so (for the moment) no complains. By the way (and slightly "off-topic"), at that same exibition I asked a spokesman of the DVD-Audio-Forum if there were any plans to release the "Dead Can Dance" albums on DVD-A (because the production company is in the DVD-A-Corner). If you know the band, you also know, that it would be great to hear Lisa Gerrard's voice in the clarity it was ment to be. He said that he was (and is) a close friend of the band and that he would put all the effort necessary into this topic. Since then, no albums are even announced, so what tells that about DVD-A ? Looks like they are going down the drain even further.

I got my BIA-SACD Limited Ed. this day and I am very pleased with it. This evening I'm going to to listen to it in it's full 5.1 MCH glory. Having all the previous incarnations of this record (incl. vinyl) I hope to find something new ... I guess I will not be dissapointed.

Hey Runrig,

What's the web address of DVD-Audio-Forum? I did a google search but came up with a jumble of industry sites introducing the 'new' format...

Could it be the DVD Forum?
