I ordered this title from jpc, but my SACD player could not play it. All other SACDs never presented any problem, this is a first. I sent it back. Has anybody elso has a similar problem? I use a Pioneer 656 (European multi player)

Fine on my Pioneer 668AV transport too.

Igor

PS: nice record, too. A bargain at Brilliant's price and one of their best SACDs.

This an exceptional recording. As an SACD, of piano and violin, it is exemplary and the performances leave little to be desired. The phrasing is musical, the interplay of piano and violin is as one would encounter in the concert hall and Ferchtman has excellent techique and tone!

GO FOR IT - you won't be sorry!

I've had an extended listen to this disc and would echo Alex's review completely. Having played the Franck's piano part, I'd probably have chosen the tempo these artists chose particularly for the first movement; neither violinist I played with would have any of that, and moved me on. (The disc played with no problems.)

The performers are where you would expect in recital, the violinist in front of the curve of the piano, so the pianist can see her. Quite right, too. The bottom end of the piano is caught particularly well. The "organ pedal" notes in the Franck speak nicely. A marvellous disc.
