I was also pleased to see such a reasonable shipping fee!

Did you expect them to hand deliver it to your door?

Or for sprightly Paul Clark, wearing white gloves, to deliver it to your door in his hummer?

Why are you intent on attacking everything I say lately? I was merely commenting that I thought they offered a very reasonable shipping rate, especially in view of the size of the box: IT WAS A COMPLIMENT. Most companies would probably charge a lot more. Go back to stepping on kittens or whatever it was that you were doing before.

Someone recently referred to SA~CDnet as "Hissy~Fit.com"

While I thought it amusing, initially, it somehow captured the "tone" of some of the many posts I have read over the years.

Jealousy is rampant on this and many other sites and as in ALL facets of life......sharing in one's successes rather than denigrating a person's good fortune in owning a very expensive piece of equipment or purchasing a pricey box set of discs should be paramount.

Paul is one of those "characters" who thinks the best things in life are or should be FREE, or cheap and that if it costs a bundle it is a waste of money.

Such penurious thinking in a bad economy is commendable but what Paul and others should realize is that not all men ARE created equal in terms of income or worldly desires.

My advice to him and them is one of acceptance. A chilling out period is way, way overdue on HISSY~FIT.COM

I received my box set yesterday- two days after I ordered it. That alone was worth the $5.00 in shipping. The quality of the sound is captivating. While listening (2 channel Sacd), I suddenly realized it was 11:00 P.M. and I had a full day at work the next morning. The soundstage is intimate and deep with a dark background.
The playing by Mister Silverman is expressive yet relaxed. To me the playing is in harmony with the tone of the Steinway-D used. The timing is slower than Eschenbach's sonata set recorded on Deutsche Grammophon (red book recordings).
On some tracks Robert Silverman can be heard humming with his playing- at least it is not as loud as Glenn Gould's vocalizations.
This is a wonderful Mozart set I am glad to own.

Well, Rammie, there is some truth to being able to pay off my house loan with what you and others have spent on a system.

Well shopping for SACDs in Japan, Hong Kong and Vietnam is one luxury I have NOT availed myself of and as the saying goes, YOU work HARD and your REWARD is spending it. And in this economic downturn I am very thankful that I had the foresight to invest my money when times were good because if you depend on your local bank for interest on your income then you just haven't done your homework. My new Meridian/SooLoo was not only procured at a deep discount but was paid for from my investment portfolio and I am thankfully mortgage free.

Jealousy in my thinking is pure failure on the part of the individual to properly provide for himself, for his family et alia and it is never too late to play catchy uppy which is where the term focus comes into the forefront. If one focuses on the things he needs and wants then everything else will eventually fall into place. But the desire must be present!

A word to the wise should be sufficient!

My copy arrived yesterday--it's wonderful It would be hard to imagine better sound or performances. The piano has plenty of presence without sticking the listener's head under the lid, and a nice sense of space without being overly reverberant. My only minor quibble is that two of the discs have rather short playing times (34 and 46 minutes) and could easily have accommodated several other substantial pieces, such as the B Minor Adagio and D Minor Fantasy, but then it wouldn't be the Sonatas, I guess! (He does include the C Minor Fantasy as part of the C Minor Sonata.) This set serves as great demonstration discs that are full of sublime music and performances.

Well, I was mostly joking about the home loan comment, but the issue of my shopping in Japan, Hong Kong, and Vietnam, as I have stated previously, is mostly due to my work taking me there. Obviously, I would never be able to do as such if I was to pay for it myself.

Oh, and I'll be in Turkey next Spring (for WORK). Anyone know of any places in Turkey?

FD, Istanbul is a marvelous mecca for long, OOP SACDs......and Hashish!

Just don't take it upon yourself to go camel tipping.......the Turks frown upon that.

But I heard it's a beautiful place. Enjoy!
