Hi, I'm looking for quite some time now on the internet to find some rare SACD like Scorpions: Moment of Glory and Gotan Project: La revancha del tango. Anyone would have some tricks or special website ? Of course like many people I got tricked for a while by DVD4music (only order there if item is in stock, otherwise you'll lose lot of time & money. But if you insist you'll enventually get your money back !).
Any help ?
Thanks

One "trick" is to set up an Ebay search with email notification, so that you are alerted every time such a SACD shows up on Ebay.

I think that for discs which are as rare as the Scorpions SACD, it's extremely unlikely to find them in an online store at the regular price.

Another idea is - if you travel frequently - to go to every small CD store you can find. Unlike online stores whose inventory is crawled by Google, it often happens that rare discs sit unnoticed in small stores for many years.

Paitence.

That and get a rabbit foot to hang from the monitor or a buda buddy to rub before searching. Seriously, while it still happens from time to time, it is unlikely to find something.

SACDs are largely just "labours of love" for a few, who want to create collectors items archives. They press up just a few copies for themselves and their friends in exclusivity. Devoted fans, need to be all over this, ready to pounce: ahd have the expectation that they must spend a great deal of money for varied levels of improvement.

Claude is right -- this is the best way.

For some pop/rock titles, you can also set an alert on Discogs: "add to Wantlist". The Gotan Project SACD can be found there, the Scorpions one not, apparently.

This forum has worked brilliantly for me. Simply by asking community friends the odd rare disc can be found; I have tried to play my part through reciprocation. OK, so Zeus prefers the forum does not descend into a swap shop but the odd request can do no harm with the benefit that you turn relatively anonymous users into sensitive, knowledgeable three dimensional friends. Not unlike spinning your first DSD disc after years of trying to figure out what's wrong with your 37th RBCD player...

Not bad for a free forum, not bad at all.

Moment OF Glory seems to be a very highly acted rare piece. I saw an Ebay Germany auction in february - the Scorpions disk was sold for more than 1000 euros.

Not to sound utterly facetious, but one could conceivably purchase over 100 blu~ray discs for 1000 Euros.
Just today, I purchased a 50" Panasonic Veira Plasma TV for $975 delivered (10 years ago a 42" Plasma was $10,000!).

The most I ever paid for an SACD was $50 (US) and when the next batch of delayed SHM~SACDs are delivered from Japan, I am DONE with SHM~SACDs.

I once saw a copy of Bowie's Heathen on sale from Amazon UK for 1500 pounds {when the pound was worth over $2 as compared to the US dollar} (I paid US $14 FOR MY COPY).

Such insanity does nothing to attract new converts to the many pleasures of SACD but I suppose fanatical completists with deep pockets feel differently!

If I look at the prices of some older disks listed here, then I worry about hearing my collection. It is probably soon only possible in the bank safe deposit. May be I change my hobby and trade them with a Bugatti Veyron - it sounds also good enough to give me heebie-jeebies. . :)
