BTW. It doesn't appear to be a defect of the disc, I had a Pioneer DV-655A before the 676A & had no such problem playing that track (or any other tracks for that matter). I have also given the All The Way SACD a spin in the Yamaha DVD-C750 & had no problems with that either.

Curiouser and curiouser...

I have the Yamaha DVD-C750 and I just purchased this Celine Dion SACD; two of them...I sent the first one back as defective. Both have the same 3:59 problem!

Benny, any ideas on why your 750 plays track one and mine doesn't? I have my 750 laying up-side-down and stuffed under a stack of three subs...but that shouldn't make a difference, right?

Seriously, though: thanks to all for your posts, and to SA-CD.net. Without you guys I would not have found out what was going on with this SACD.

Cheers,
Steven

After my personal experience, as well as reading reports from other users, I have come to the conclusion that this seems to be an issue with MediaTek MT1389-based players. It has nothing to do with DSD-to-PCM conversion. In fact, I own a Pioneer Elite DV-58AV, which is a MediaTek MT1389-based player that keeps SACD in its DSD domain via analog and HDMI outputs. It had the same problem until I updated its firmware. Now I have no audio issues with the player at all! These cursed players include some Marantzes, some Onkyos, all Oppos, a few Philipses, most Pioneers, and some Yamahas. I know that Oppo, Pioneer, and Yamaha have corrected this issue. The difficulties are sometimes obtaining the update files to perform the update yourself, and other times, getting a manufacturor's customer service department to even just acknowledge that such a manufacturor's update exists. I thought it might give a feeling of resolve or closure now that you know that the cursed players are all MediaTek MT1389-based. I hope this solved the unexplainable mystery for you. Good luck!

I don't own it, but I've read that David Bowie's 'Heathen' SACD had the same problem, but once again, if you can upgrade the firmware, you should have no problem.
