Another one of my weekend purchases.
Finally, a modern recording I like as well, or even better than my beloved Scherchen. By the way, I also decided to go for the new Bernstein Mahler box: Fabulously remastered RBCD. I like this Gergiev way better than Bernstein's highly touted 7.
I confess that while liking them, I was not nearly as impressed by Mahler 2 and Mahler 6 by Gergiev, so this was a great surprise.

If there's a Borders near you might want to check it out. I don't know if this is nation-wide, but, Borders stores in the NY/Connecticut area are reducing inventory, and many, indeed most, CDs and SACDs are offered at 50% off. This has been going on for a while so there aren't too many SACDs left (largely because I bought most of them), but, I've seen a couple of the Mahler/Gergiev SACDs among those that are.

Also---- LSO Live, like Channel Classics, are WAY cheaper from UK sites for US buyers. Even if the exchange rate were two dollars a pound, which it isn't, it would still be cheaper. Crochet is great on price.
