Discussion: Chopin: Etudes - Freddy Kempf

Anyone listened to this yet? It got pretty bad review on ClassicsToday.com (6/6 out of 10/10), also on sonics: "BIS' ugly, glassy sound dips below the label's usual high standard of piano engineering." and the MusicWeb reviewer wasn't too excited about it either.
Every BIS SACD I've listened to so far, has been excellent on sonics and very good performances also. There doesn't seem to be other Chopin Etudes release yet on Multichannel SACD, any rumors of someone else releasing this also?

There are Chopin études on multich. SA-CD.
Perahias recording in DSD has been out on Sony Classical since quite some time now (even before the Kempf release)and it has rave reviews.

The other recordings of the Etudes on SA-CD are stereo only:

Chopin: Etudes Opp. 10, 25 - Perahia
Chopin: Etudes - Yukio Yokoyama

Can't check because i have a stereo player, but the Perahia disc is labeled stereo/multichannel on the back of the jewel-case and on the disc itself.

Hmmm, I just pulled out mine and it does indeed say multichannel on the back ... but the sleeve says stereo. A couple of vendors I just checked also say stereo only, as does Sony's own site.

Maybe somebody with this disc and a multichannel player could confirm this either way ...

I put the disc in my Marantz 8260 this morning, and it is a stereo disc.
