I've been a Rush fan since Signals came out. First I had the Lp's, the cassettes, the cd's and lately the remastered cd's. But as an avid Rush Fan and an audiophile enthusiast, I really looking forward to see ANY Rush recording into this marvelous format. I owned just a couple of this new format technology (Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon And George Harrison's Live In Japan). If the companie's would release more titles, I really would get into this format easily. but back to the main issue. Where's Rush on SACD, I sent an e-mail a few months ago to the official Rush site but I didn't get any response from their staff. Anybody please give me a hint...!!! JCG

Long time Rush fan here as well and was eagerly awaiting Mercury's release of the first 4 albums 2+ years ago, but alas, those never seemed to come out. I was thinking how great 2112 would have been in surround. I think at this point, just keep supporting their output (I highly recommend Rush Replay x3) and look for their new album out next spring.

I have already gone on record saying I would repurchase the entire catalog of:
Rush
Yes
Genesis
Asia

Can anyone guess what form of rock I am into?

Ok ok ... these guys have never heard of any of those before ....

If you haven't noticed, this is a site for clasical music discussions.

You can get excellent versions of Fragile and Magnification from Yes
as DVDA (oops that slipped from me).

Other pretty good prog items as DVDA are Billy Cobham's Spectrum, Porcupine
Tree's In Absentia, Deadwing and Stupid Dream.

ELP's Brain Sallad Sugery is OK, especially the songs by Greg Lake.

It is a site for SACD. Since a lot of SACD releases are classical music, discussions tend to concentrate on that, which is fine by me. For Rock etc. DVDA may have better selection.

I think that if SACD had more rock releases it would really help the format along. Even if I do buy mostly Classical.

Ditto. I have read on the "Power Windows - A Tribute to Rush" site that SACD is something that may be in the works down the road. I believe the band and their producers are aware of it's potential.

Though I have no evidence to back it all up, my suspicion is that the promised Rush SACD's failed to materialize for the following reason - Mercury is a Universal company which supports the SACD format. But Mercury is no longer Rush's label - hasn't been for 20 years or so. Their current label is Atlantic, a Warner company, which does not (I believe) support the SACD format. I believe Warner supports DVD-A.

If Rush wanted to release their catalogue in a hi-rez, 5.1 channel sound, they would be in the unenviable position of having half their albums in one format, half in another. I think the band decided that, commercially in terms of their fan relationship, that might not be the best thing to do.

As I said, I have no evidence to confirm any of this and I've never seen anything on this written anywhere. It's just a supposition on my part.

>>Hello,

>>Yes, there were discussions about releasing some of Rush’s albums on SACD. Unfortunately although the sound was great, it was a commercial failure and as far as we know, Sony is no longer making new ones.

>>Thanks for writing.

Hey all....

The above info is a reply I received a while back from the RUSH website...it makes no sense what so ever, and I replied that just because Sony screwed the pooch on SACD should NOT imply that RUSH can still release SACDs!!!!

Who knows???

Cheers,

JPC.DE sending an announcement that Counterparts by RUSH are no longer available from their overpriced store. So I had to order it from Amazon.co.uk - fingers crossed.
