I've enjoyed the superb recordings of the Flanders Recorder Quartet on Aeolus very much.../search/Flanders+quartet.

So, I was delighted to come across this BIS recording of the Sirena Recorder Quartet. A variety of works from the Medieval/Renaissance/Baroque eras and several from the 20th & 21st centuries allows the Sirena Recorder Quartet to display their impressive technique and beautiful tone colors. As with pipe organ recordings, Multichannel surround sound gives a natural bloom to this wonderful performance. 2-ch stereo is also good.

Here's a mini review with some video clips. Scroll down for the English version...

And an enlightening article on the history of recorders...

The beginning of the English translation begins with the sentence, "Good music needs no bush." Quite enigmatic.

Absolutely. Good music needs a good concert hall!
