Thanks, Pentatone. Looking forward to this.

Indeed, a most welcomed release. Hope it's the first of a cycle.

After reading these postings, I've spent the afternoon listening to the Poeme and the 1st symphony on my ipod (while working very hard, of course). It's the recordings by Riccardo Muti that EMI released in a 3 CD box and I hadn't listened to it for a couple of years.

This is glorious music indeed, sometimes complex but always stunningly beautiful.
Pletnev is somewhat uneven as a conductor. I do hope this will be good and followed by the other two symphonies which I will listen to during the weekend.
I can only imagine what a really good 5-channel recording can do to this music.

(edit: Correction. The Muti recordings were made by EMI between 1986 and 1991. The 3CD box was licensed and re-released many years later by super budget label Brilliant Classics.)

Great news. I already have the Muti cycle (EMI/Brilliant) and the Inbal cycle on Philips, but I would like to see new recordings in hi-rez.

I've got the Muti cycle too.

Nevertheless, the recent Pentatone SACDs are so darn good that I'm sure, at least technically, the Pletnev will be stunning.

I have Muti as well (not the set) with lush playing from the Philadelphians. The snippets of the pletnev/Pentatone release on JPC sound promising.

Having read Castor's review, I preordered this sacd today, together with the new Sinfonia domestica (Strauss). Presto has a nice Pentatone discount, lastning through July I think.
If you like late Romantic music, I can't recommend Scriabin enough. Mostly forgotten and underestimated, maybe because he got totallly mad at the end (The mystery!), but his music is just so beautiful.

A wee bit off-topic to be sure, but I can't help myself.

If this turns into a series, I hope they include the exquisite Reverie, which Muti left out. It's very short, which may be why it turned out so well.
