My first post here and I have several questions about the album named above...

I don't know if I am confused or not but are there several or different versions on that album available on a SACD?

If there are several version available on a SACD which one is the best version?

Where can one buy this best of the best SACD version?

Now I also noticed this album is available on the new Blu-Ray Pure Audio format,
Did anyone compare the SACD version versus the Blu-Ray version?

Thank you.

Jet Jockey, first and foremost, Welcome to SA~CD.net.

Regarding your question regarding the Getz/Gilberto reissues, according to Analogue Productions (AP), the original master tapes were not touched since 1980 and every issue to date had the r/l channels reversed.

That is until now. I have the original domestic SACD release with the reversed channels and IMHO, I would go with the Analogue Production SACD.....in which placement of channels has been corrected.

As for the Blu Ray audio (BD~A) version: I have no idea what master they utilized....but reviews posted at AmazonUS have been VERY positive calling it one of the better BD~A reissues.

The AP SACD reissue is about $30 and I notice you can get the BD~A from AmazonUS for around $20 w/s/h from third party vendors NEW.

Your call.

The original Verve SACD release has quite manipulated EQ. The upper treble have been boosted to compensate the natural treble roll-off of the tapes. It sounds spectacular at first but fatiguing in the long run.

I thought the definitive stereo version is the Japanese SHM SACD version and the multichannel goes to the APO remaster?

Sorry for the confusion, I was thinking somewhere along the Oscar Peterson discs.

I will give it a relisten and report back. Either it's the SHM SACD or the APO version that has the edge.

Thank you all for your responses.

I ordered both the Analogue Production's SACD and the Blu-Ray Pure Audio version of this album.

It should be interesting to see which version I like most.

Anything to report on the 2 versions? I'm thinking of getting a copy to compare with my remastered cd verve edition.
