Took forever to load then a note appeared on the screen....an error has occurred......Learn More.

All the other you tubes you posted were fine.

Just a bad batch of you tubes, or....a 'Sorceress' In The Machine http://www.hdwallpapers.in/walls/angelina_jolie_maleficent-wide.jpg

Speaking of Sorcerers......just bought the Tangerine Dream soundtrack for William Friedkin's thriller Sorcerer and the BD~V, restored, as well.

Sometimes I notice different screens for youtube. And I also have trouble watching certain tubes from time to time. But usually there are several tubes of the same movie or music video. So, I just try a different one. Anyway, the 2 Pet Shop Boys videos were 2003 'After Hours' version of New York City Boy and the other a 2009 London live performance of More Than a Dream/Heart. Maybe you can find them from your end. They're lots of fun.

Boy! I got lots of stuff today. 3 DVDs arrived in the mail: JLA - "become ocean", Silverline - Surf'sUp, and Curtis Mayfield - live at ronnie scott's.
And as you know, I picked up all 4 TD SHM-SACDs. I also found an '82 Japanese RBCD of Spring Session M.

I haven't even opened become ocean. Tangerine Dream is tonight's special. Rubycon was beautiful. I am listening to ricochet as I write. It's fantastic. I agree with Rickko in his fine review that they did a superb job with the remastering. The transparency is amazing. Even though the original recordings are a little dated, the sounds seem to be floating in the air.

I can't go so far as to say I don't need a surround version. (Sorry, Rick ;-)

I STILL want these in Hirez SURROUND. (^-^)/

But...after a few minutes of such marvelous sound, my ears have adjusted quite nicely to the 2-ch stereo.

Yes, I played all 4 of them back to back the first night. It was amazing! As I mentioned above about the SQ, these old recordings do show their age here and there, but these remastering sound awesome. I have been listening to them almost everyday. It'll be worth the wait, Ralph.

I still remember the eerie TV trailer for Sorcerer years ago. I'll have to watch it again.

I received my recent order from CD Japan for the four Tangerine Dream SACDs (plus Tomita's Space Fantasy and the RBCD of All Directions by The Temptations) this morning and I'm pleased to say without any VAT/RM bill :)

I've ripped all discs and played Track 1 of Ricochet and at the same time, played my 1988 vinyl repress for a brief and very unscientific comparison and to make it just a bit fairer, I plugged the output cable from my phono stage into my AVR to ensure amplification was the same - albeit there's still very different hardware upstream.

The vinyl had a more full-bodied sound with just a bit of crackle, but it was definitely louder, so that full-bodiedness might have been in part down to that and volume matching with just my ears isn't likely to be very accurate. Apart from that however, both sounded fine and I had no problem enjoying the music from either source. I don't have any other digital versions of Tangerine Dream, so vinyl is all I can compare these SACDs with. I also don't have a Dynamic Range score for Ricochet, but I pushed my AVR's volume to -0db which was loud, but it felt comfortably loud because it certainly didn't feel overly compressed like it was 1999.

Warning! There now follows a comment on an RBCD which some readers may find inappropriate!

I played All Directions (released 16th October 2013) next and man, there's some damn good music on it and as a male vocal group, it puts modern 'boy bands' to shame. This CD is only priced at just over £5 and I would have paid much more than that. If anyone is a fan of this album and doesn't have it, I highly recommend this edition. When I was listening to it, I knew it had excellent Dynamic Range and sure enough it scored:

Min: 10
Max: 15
Avg: 12

Fwiw, the track that scored 15 is the 12 minute whopper, Papa Was A Rolling Stone! Btw, someone reviewed this @ Amazon UK and said it has bad mastering, well I reckon that dude needs his ears cleaned, a better system and/ or declimatised from 'loud' mastering because it's a champagne release for the price of lemonade :)

Which label is that Temptations' CD please?

It's on Universal and if you search @ CDJapan, it's the only version they have. If you search on Amazon, look for import released in October 2013. It's an incredibly cheap, but top quality release :)

I've now listened to the other TD SACDs and I'm very satisfied with them as far as how they sound. I hadn't heard Rubycon or Stratosfear before, so I'm equally pleased to say I like them too and in Rubycon, I think I've just found my new favourite TD album :) And as with Ricochet, I always felt the urge to turn the volume way up because like Ricochet, the Dynamic Range is good with these releases!

Received Stratosfear yesterday. I surpassed the Rubycon masterstroke (see my post #35, page 4 of this thread) : listened to it 7 times in a row...

No, this is no pathology. Or maybe the pathology of unearthly, unnatural excellency... of something so beautiful it should not be.

For this is my favourite TD album, I know every corner and detail of it by heart and I had such high expectations. And I found my 1985 Virgin RBCD to be excellent already. And I didn't expect to be astounded that way.

Rubycon was a surprise for me, dynamics wise ; and yet that was nothing compared to this Stratosfear. Holy mother of God, was I silenced and immobilized at the bottom of my couch ! I certainly was gobsmacked as my girlfriend looked at me with a smile several times. She too was impressed - and she's no audiophile.

These dynamics... this organic, hefty quality... Nothing but magnificence. It just took me out of this world and had me travelling, for real, into the TD realm.

I still don't have the two other TD titles. But I intend to get them soon.

These TD albums are works of art. They deserve to be presented in this excellent format. The sheer force of the music gets to you with its raw energy never experienced before.

Definitely get Phaedra as well. The bass sequences and the atmospheric textures will blow you away.
