Yes, indeed he is the same, just that I have a different opinion because although is not my favorite version of Close to the Edge in SHM-CD is not bad, nor the Tales From Topographic Oceans. In fact I think the sound is warmer and not as bright and metallic like the conventional CDs. It is possible that the issue lies in the taste and habit of listening to a CD. I also find good the SHM-CD Led Zeppelin collection.

Kikuchi did the SHM Yes catalogue. I thought they, in general, sounded pretty good. They were based on the Rhino remasters, which I assume he tweeked a little. It will be very interesting to hear these new SACD masters and compare them to the existing Yes SACD titles.

Does anyone know why there are two releases dates, one for Japan and one for the US? Will there be differences in the boxes. My thoughts were that a 200 page book in Japanese would not be acceptable for the US market and so there might be an English version of this, Probably not, but don't understand why two release dates as they will be imported into the US anyway.

I'm a huge YES fan but would never spend hundreds of dollars on a SACD box set until I know for sure of the Sound Quality. I rather get Steve Wilson 5.1 Blu ray version and hope he will do more of the back catalog of Yes.

You said you will not spend so many dollars until to be sure of the sound quality. Well, I can give you my honest opinion when I hear the Box-Set, then, you can feel encouraged or perhaps you prefer to wait for SW. After all I am a super fan of YES but I won't follow the play to the recording industry, although, jaja all do it in someway.

I will wait for your opinion, I still think all of Yes should be in 5.1 surround.

Bazcrim I agree, it will be interesting to compare the different versions. I prefer not to stay with the doubt, anyway I think waiting for version 5.1 will be long.

I am NOT a huge YES fan but found the Audio Fidelity stereo remaster of Close To The Edge sterile in comparison to the surround envelopment attained with my DVD~As of Fragile and Magnification. The dense layering, IMO, greatly benefits from surround and no doubt, based on Steve Wilson's previous remasters, those will be the somewhat definitive versions......and it seems the blu ray audio versions will contain a plethora of extras, all in high res, which makes the pot even sweeter!

Yes in stereo.......been there, done that........yuk!

Indeed the 5.1 SACD Fragile version is great, just I heard it last Sunday again. I already had the DVD A version but the SACD is truly excellent. SW will take long to overcome.

Yes I agree that all YES should be 5.1 but if I waited 40 years listening to them in stereo, I can wait a little longer and meanwhile in HD.

For me, personally, I have double dipped for so long (with DVD Movies>blu ray, RBCD>DVD~A, SACD, etc) that I CAN wait for the Steve Wilson remasters as the hi res game (very especially 5.1) has been a long journey, for me, since the early 70's with the Vinyl quad "revolution."

I have SO many hi res albums and BD movies to keep me literally occupied for years and if it takes three years or so for the YES 5.1 remasters........ so be it.

But shelling out $400 for Yes in stereo is not exactly on my must do list.

5.1 hi res remasters requires utmost patience but to double dip (again) knowing what lies ahead (The SW 5.1 Yes remasters) is positively ludicrous, at least for me!

Ralph, I'm very surprised you still haven't given Going For The One a try. You would be surprised.

Although remastered by Steve Hoffman too, this one is nothing like Close To The Edge.

Please read the review by Progboy in the item's page (Yes: Going For The One), as well as my opinion on the related discussion (/showthread.php?page=6, post #56).

One almost has to believe Mr Hoffman read the angry reprimands that were written about the first one, and corrected his mistakes the second time.
