Reviews: Concerto Köln - The Mozart Album

Reviews: 2

Performance:   Sonics:
Splendid disc in every way - great sound, wonderful playing, and a complete concert type program. I wish more discs were put together this way with the selections in about the same order as one would get at a concert, first an overture, then a symphony, then a couple concertos, and another symphony as finale. This really seems to increase the listenability factor, if there is such a thing.
The music here is mostly familiar enough Mozart. Pleasant listening. Be nice if Concerto Koln could do another disc of Mozart music like this.

Performance:   Sonics:
Yet another must have SACD...This is a great example how to put together a spectacular SACD – The performance, the engineering (realizing the super wide dynamic range of DSD they set the peak output level slight lower than your standard disc…this enables you to have more control of the output to your sound system…They suggest you “Turn up your volume, in order to enjoy the full impact of this system’s dynamic sound”...great idea...I hope they continue to incorporate this in the future...) The artwork and detailed booklet are first rate...

I think the major labels should learn from this example of greatness that really sets the bar for all future SACD releases... My hats off to everyone involved with this release. Capriccio is a label that I’ll be watching very closely in the future, I also think they (Concerto Koln & Capriccio) have done a stunning job with the “Italian Concertos” release as well...but that’s another review!!!

Bottom line here, get this in your collection...no disappointments here...

Turn up the Symphony #29 (K201) and you’ll know precisely what I mean…!
